CAF Bans Tunisia from CHAN 2022 as Libya accepts to replace Tunisia
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has banned Tunisia from participating in the 2022 CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) to be hosted by Cameroon. This follows the formal withdrawal by Tunisia from the 2022 African showpiece owing to a congested football domestic calendar which saw Tunisian clubs refusing to release their home-based players for the competition.
Consequently, CAF has invited Libya who suffered a 3-1 aggregate elimination to Tunisia in the last qualifying round for the finals, an invitation which Libya accepted. Tunisia was also fined by CAF in the tune of $50,000.
